Engineer Rashid, Lok Sabha MP, has formed an alliance between his Awami Ittehad Party and Jamaat-e-Islami-backed candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. He denied allegations of being a BJP proxy, criticized former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, and condemned the central government’s abrogation of Article 370.
