Akshay Shinde, who was accused of sexually assaulting two young girls at a Badlapur school, died from bullet injuries sustained during a police encounter. While in police custody, Shinde reportedly snatched a police officer’s weapon and opened fire on officers. Several police personnel were injured during the attack. The case has led to additional charges against the school’s chairman and secretary under the POCSO Act. A Special Investigation Team has been set up to investigate further.
