Bhubaneswar, Sep 28 (Inditop.com) The meteorological centre here Monday alerted fishermen in Orissa not to venture into the sea as it would be rough due to a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, officials said.

“The low pressure area has formed over west central bay and adjoining north-west bay off north Andhra Pradesh and south Orissa coast,” P.K. Bal, a senior official of the meteorological centre, told Inditop.

Most places in coastal Orissa have had widespread rain during the past 24 hours due to the cyclonic circulation. More rain is likely to occur in the coastal districts during the next 24 hours due to the low pressure area, he said.

Winds from the north easterly direction reaching a speed of 45-55 km per hour to 65 km per hour are likely to prevail along and off the Orissa coast, he added.

“The sea condition will be moderate to rough and we have alerted fishermen not to venture into the sea,” Bal said.
