Patna, Sep 29 (Inditop.com) An effigy of the mythological demon king Ravana burnt in Bihar’s Chapra town on Dussehra had 11 heads instead of the usual 10. No, there was no symbolic reason behind it – it was just a mistake by the artisans who made it.
The thousands who had gathered to watch Ravana go up in flames Monday evening were surprised when they saw the effigy had an extra head.
“An 11-headed Ravana was burnt due to the mistake of the artisans who made it,” said an official involved in organising the ritual in Chapra, which is some 100 km from here.
Celebrating the victory of Hindu Lord Ram over Ravana, Dussehra symbolises the triumph of good over evil. Effigies of the demon king, his brother Kumbhkarna and son Meghnad are burnt on Dussehra day.
