New Delhi, Sep 30 (Inditop.com) Hindustan Construction Co (HCC) has partnered with Britain-based engineering and project management firm AMEC Plc to offer technical services in the nuclear power sector, a top HCC official said Wednesday.

“This is the next big opportunity as six nuclear power plants will be sanctioned in the next 40 months,” Ajit Gulabchand, chairman and managing director of HCC, told reporters here.

“India is targeting to generate about 20,000 MW of energy by 2020. As per the industrial estimates, it will require an investment of Rs.150,000 crore for the next five years. We expect to have about half of market share,” Gulabchand said.

According to him, the partnership will further strengthen HCC’s capabilities to execute services in the field of mechanical and electrical components of nuclear power plants by sourcing the latest prevailing global technologies through AMEC.

“Our partnership will provide flexible and technology independent platforms to reduce the cost of building new nuclear power plants in India,” Gulabchand said.
