New Delhi, Sep 30 (Inditop.com) A city court Wednesday issued notice to Delhi Police and Tihar Jail authorities over arrested Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy’s plea, requesting that he be taken to a specialised hospital for cancer treatment.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Bansal asked the police and prison authorities to respond to the plea by Thursday.

The 63-year-old London educated Ghandy was arrested in New Delhi Sep 21, though the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) claims he was picked up by police four days earlier — Sep 17. The top Maoist leader is presently in judicial custody till Oct 6.

Ghandy, in his plea, said he was suffering from prostate cancer and cardiac problems and should be referred to a specialised hospital. He also demanded a copy of the first information report (FIR) lodged against him by the police.
