Bhubaneswar, Oct 1 (Inditop.com) Heavy rains continued to lash most parts of Orissa for the third consecutive day Thursday affecting normal life, officials said.

Heavy downpour was experienced especially in the coastal districts under the effect of low pressure that has formed over the Bay of Bengal, off the south Orissa and north Andhra Pradesh coast.

“Heavy downpour is expected in coastal and interior parts of the state in the next 48 hours,” said S.N. Pasupalak of the Bhubaneswar met department.

“Winds from the north easterly direction reaching a speed of 45-55 km per hour are likely to prevail along and off the Orissa coast,” he added.

The met office has also warned fishermen not to venture into sea as it would remain turbulent.

“The weather would remain squally and sea would remain turbulent. The warning of the last two days continues and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea,” the met office said.

According to the state revenue control room, no casualty has been reported so far.
