Mumbai, Oct 5 (Inditop.com) Well-known Bollywood comedian Rajpal Yadav has become the owner of the Kanpur Gullies cricket team for the T-10 Gully cricket season 2, it was announced here Monday.
He becomes the second Bollywood actor after Divya Dutta to own a Gully Cricket team. Last month, Divya was signed as the owner of the Ludhiana cricket team.
Rajpal will be responsible for marketing and promoting it in India. He would also be involved with the team at the grassroots level ranging from selection, grooming of players to cheering them in the stadium.
Rajpal said Kanpur has hidden talent in cricket. “It is time that their skills are projected before the country and they get their due in the sport,” he said.
This shorter and entertaining format of cricket with 10 overs a side will be played among 896 players from 64 teams in 16 cities, with a day and night Grand Finale at Kanpur.
The matches shall be telecast live on DD Sports. The total prize money of Rs 2.5 million will be distributed among various teams in this tournament.
