Bangalore, Oct 8 (Inditop.com) With three new swine flu deaths being reported in Karnataka, the death toll due to the H1N1 virus in the state reached 106, a health official said here Thursday.

While one death has been reported in Bangalore, the other two were from Bagalkote and Davanagere.

According to a health official, a 65-year-old man died at a government hospital in Bangalore Oct 3. He was admitted to the hospital Oct 1.

A three-year-old girl died at a private hospital in Bagalkote Oct 1. Bagalkote is about 500 km from here.

The third victim is a 26-year-old woman, who was admitted to a private hospital Oct 2 in Davanagere, and died Oct 6, the official said. Davanagere is about 300 km from here.

However, reports confirming that all the three victims tested positive for the virus were received only Oct 7, he said.

With no let-up in deaths due to H1N1 virus in the state, residents of the city are apprehensive as experts warn that the coming winter season might further increase cases of swine flu.

“We’re a worried lot. However, we are taking all preventive measures, including maintaining personal hygiene to keep the virus at bay,” said Sunita Mohan, a mother of two children.

Pallav P., an IT professional, said that swine flu scare could be felt in the city, but people had no option but to carry on with their daily lives.

“I cannot stop going to office, so are others. But we’re concerned,” added Pallav.

Out of 106 swine flu death reports in Karnataka, 71 were in Bangalore and rest from other parts of the state.

On Wednesday, 11 fresh cases tested positive for H1N1 influenza in the state. All the cases were reported from Bangalore.

With this the total number of positive cases has touched 1,124 in the state, the official added.
