New Delhi, Oct 10 (Inditop.com) As Maharshtra, Harayana and Arunachal Pradesh go to the polls Tuesday, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has appealed to rebels in the party to set aside personal ambitions and work for the larger interests of the organisation.
“More often than not, our internal differences have prevented us from translating the substantial goodwill we enjoy amongst the people into an electoral advantage for ourselves,” Gandhi said in a letter to the party workers in the latest issue of party mouthpiece Sandesh.
Appealing to the cadres to work unitedly for the party, she said: “I have repeatedly stressed the need for party unity and discipline. We have to function with a single-minded sense of purpose.”
Gandhi also said that the assembly elections are a “historic opportunity” for the party workers to demonstrate that the Congress has learned from past experiences and will function cohesively, “setting personal ambitions aside” for the interest of the party.
