Mumbai, Oct 10 (Inditop.com) Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will not be seen on the HDIL India Couture Week ramp as designer duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla who were to stage the show opener Sunday have backed out at the last minute, apparently over the seating arrangements, forcing the cancellation of the show.
Not surprisingly, this has miffed event organiser Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), which issued a statement Saturday, criticising the designers.
“To back out a day before their show is most unprofessional and regrettable. The rest of the event will continue as per the schedule and the Couture Week will now begin on
Monday,” the FDCI statement said.
A source in the FDCI said the designers had no issues with the council or sponsor HDIL but were apparently upset with the event management company handling the show because they were not given adequate front row seats.
“It seems they asked for too many front row seats. Obviously, this demand could not be accommodated,” the source said.
Besides Amitabh, his “Cheeni Kum” co-star Tabu, and stars like Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik and Suzanne Roshan were to walk the ramp for Abu-Sandeep.
The couture week will now begin Monday with a jewellery show by designer Queenie Dhondy, Farah Khan, Maheep Kapoor and Devaunshi Mehta.
