Chennai, Oct 26 (Inditop.com) Robin Soldering of Sweden, ranked 10th in the world, has confirmed his participation in the Aircel Chennai Open tennis tournament to be held here Jan 4-10.

In a statement, Soldering said: “Aircel Chennai open is a much awaited event in the international tennis circuit. India is a fascinating country and I am looking forward to visiting India and playing at the tournament this year.”

Soldering progressed from top 50 in 2007 to 20 in 2008 and this season, surprised former World No.1 Rafael Nadal at the French Open en route to his first Grand Slam final before losing to Roger Federer.

His performance in the French Open and China eased him into top-10 bracket and the 25-year-old Swede has won four Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour titles in his career.
