Kolkata, April 16 (Inditop) The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Thursday kept its options open on a post-poll alliance with the Congress, saying the party would take a decision if such a situation arose after the Lok Sabha elections.
“I cannot say anything now on this. I can only comment on it when we’ll have to take a decision to form the government at the centre,” CPI-M politburo member Biman Bose told reporters here at the residence of veteran communist leader Jyoti Basu.
Bose’s comment comes a day after CPI-M general secretary Prakash Karat categorically ruled out the possibility of entering into any post-poll alliance with the Congress at the centre.
Bose said the political landscape of India would definitely undergo a change after the polls.
“Our party will take a unanimous decision on the issue by holding a meeting after the Lok Sabha polls. That’s the party stand. I cannot say anything now,” Bose said during a function to launch the website of the party’s Kolkata South candidate Robin Deb.
Deb has been pitted against the state’s principal opposition party Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee.
