New Delhi, Nov 24 (Inditop.com) The Lok Sabha was Tuesday adjourned tice – first over the issue of shortage of fertilisers, and later over the Congress’s alleged hand in the multi-crore scam involving former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda.
The entire opposition, led by the Samajwadi Party and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), came down heavily on the government during zero hour for not ensuring supply of adequate fertilisers to farmers, particularly in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
The issue was raised by Samajwadi Party’s Ramkishun, who said prices of the fertilisers were shooting up in Uttar Pradesh because the stocks were being sold in the black market or smuggled to Nepal.
RJD’s Raghuvansh Prasad Singh supported him as the opposition parties sought an immediate assurance from the government on the issue.
While the opposition continued its protest over the issue, Speaker Meira Kumar at 12.30 p.m. adjourned the house till 2 p.m.
When the house met at 2 p.m., BJP’s Shahnawaz Hussain raised the issue of alleged multi-crore scam involving Madhu Koda, and alleged Congress leaders were also involved in the scam and Koda had got only a small share.
Accusing the Congress of trying to save Koda, Hussain asked the government to discuss the issue in parliament.
Though the BJP MPs walked out of the house on the issue, they soon returned and stalled the proceedings by approaching the speaker’s podium.
Amidst the slogan-shouting, the chair adjourned the house till 3 p.m.
