Kolkata, April 19 (Inditop) The security arrangements for a political meeting of West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in northern West Bengal were stepped up Sunday following a threat call from the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) – an insurgent outfit active in that part of the state.
“We came to know that a local journalist got a threat call on his mobile phone from a KLO operative who reportedly issued a threat saying they would cause violence in the chief minister’s meeting (at Toofanganj) in Cooch Behar district,” State Director (Security) A.K. Maliwal told Inditop.
“We’ve stepped up the security for the chief minister. We have made adequate arrangements for his meetings during his visit in north Bengal,” he said.
Asked whether the source of the call has been identified, Maliwal said: “The police will certainly probe the matter to find the source.”
