Raipur, Nov 30 (Inditop.com) The Chhattisgarh government sounded an alert Monday ahead of the weeklong anniversary celebrations of the People’s Liberation of Guerilla Army (PLGA), the military wing of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist).

The high alert was sounded after police recovered a number of leaflets from Bijapur district asking people to observe the ninth anniversary of the PLGA from Dec 2-8.

In the leaflets in Gondi language, the Maoists have also appealed to people to become members of the CPI-Maoist member and get recruited as PLGA fighters.

Bijapur District Superintendent of Police Avinash Mohanty said: “Police are ready to meet any situation; we have made all preparations to give a befitting reply to Maoists during the PLGA anniversary celebrations week.”

Bijapur along with Dantewada, Narayanpur, Kanker and Bastar districts form the 40,000 sq km Bastar region that has witnessed over 1,500 casualties since 2004 in Maoist violence.
