Ghaziabad, Dec 2 (Inditop.com) A local court here Wednesday sentenced six people to death for murdering four women over a property dispute in 2005.
The court of Additional Judicial Magistrate A.K. Srivastava held six people guilty of murdering four women in Noorpur locality of Masuri area of Ghaziabad Nov 24, 2005, and acquitted three others in the case.
The court sentenced Inder Pal, Bunti, Kale alias Gajendra, Vinod, Pappu and Kiran Pal to death for murdering four women – Shiksha, Sharda, Bijendri and Chandro.
Three people – Ram Pal Sharma, Samay Singh and Rukam Singh, who were also named in the case – have, however, been acquitted.
The four women were murdered over a property dispute while they were on their way to the agricultural fields, on the afternoon of Nov 24 2005.
Following the incident, a case was registered on the complaint of Chandro’s husband Bhopal Singh against 13 people, including Manoj, Abrar, Pramod and Surendra.
While Surendra died during the course of trial, Manoj and Abrar were killed in a gunfight with police. Abrar was said to be the mastermind of the gang.
Chandro’s husband Bhopal Singh, whose two daughters Sharda and Shiksha, were also murdered, said after the verdict was announced: “We are relieved now. The court has listened to us. My complete family was murdered by these men. One of the accused, Pramod is still absconding. We are living in fear because of him. We want him also to be arrested soon.”
A family member of one of the guilty, who declined to name himself, said: “We did not expect this. We will appeal to the high court.”
