Lucknow, April 21 (Inditop) The Samajwadi Party has urged the Election Commission to take strict action against a minister of the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly pressurising voters to support the party in the Lok Sabha polls.

The Samajwadi Party (SP) has accused cabinet minister Dadoo Prasad of misusing his position.

“Dadoo Prasad is pressurising voters of the Banda parliamentary seat to make his party’s candidate win the election,” Samajwadi Party candidate for the Banda constituency R.K. Singh Patel told reporters here Tuesday.

He has accused Prasad, rural development minister in the Mayawati government, of taking the help of the local police to put pressure on voters.

Patel alleged that residents of the Bargarh and Manikpur localities in Banda have complained against Prasad but no action has been taken against him.

He said that the SP has filed a written complaint to the poll panel demanding action against Prasad.

Banda is some 200 km from Lucknow.
