Lucknow, Dec 17 (Inditop.com) A regional party, campaigning for a Bundelkhand state out of districts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, Thursday announced that it would start a blood signature campaign for the formation of the state.
Activists of the Bundelkhand Ekikrit Party (BEP) would start the campaign in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district Thursday, party leaders said.
“By the signature campaign, which will be officially launched Thursday, we want to draw attention of the state and the central governments towards the seriousness of the demand that has gone unnoticed during the last several years,” Surendra Tiwari, general secretary of BEP, told reporters in Banda, 300 km from here.
According to BEP officials, the campaign would also be carried in six others districts – Hamirpur, Chitrakoot, Jalaun, Jhansi, Mahoba and Lalitpur.
Hundreds of BEP activists Tuesday vandalised a railway station and blockaded rail tracks in Banda district.
Meanwhile, Bundelkhand Mukti Morcha (BMM) Wednesday began a 300 km ‘padyatra’ (march) from the Kamtanath Temple in Chitrakoot district.
The march will end at the Matangeshwar temple at Khajuraho on New Year’s Day after passing through several towns of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh that falls in the Bundelkhand region.
