Bhopal, Dec 24 (Inditop.com) A large amount of cash and bullion and documents relating to property worth more than Rs.12 crore were recovered in raids at the houses and offices of an official in Madhya Pradesh, officials said Thursday.

“Gold ornaments weighing over 2.5 kg valued at Rs.45 lakh, silver weighing over 3 kg and a sum of Rs 11.90 lakh in cash were unearthed during the raids which continued till 3 a.m. Thursday by the Lokayukta’s (Ombudsman) Special Police Establishment (SPE) at the houses and offices of Senior Deputy Registrar Sobran Singh Aporia,” Superintendent of Police (Lokayukta) K.K. Lohani said.

Raids were still being carried out at Aporia’s houses in Bhopal and Indore simultaneously. Some documents in Aporia’s writing which provide details about the immovable property owned by him, in Bhopal and Indore, valued at more than Rs.12 crore have also been seized.

The officials were, however, still in the process of recording documents relating to property and bank accounts of Aporia and his family members including his son Arun Aporia who runs a call centre at Indore.

“The SPE team at Indore has also recovered documents relating to several acres of land in the state,” an official said.

The raids followed a case registered under the Anti-Corruption Act against the official Tuesday.
