New Delhi, Jan 1 (Inditop.com) Car major Hyundai Motor sold 22.6 percent more vehicles in December 2009, compared to the like month of previous year, the company said in a statement Friday.
Total sales for December stood at 47,217 units as against 38,502 units in the previous corresponding period. Sales in India alone accounted for 22,252 units as against 15,602 units in December, 2008.
Exports grew 9 percent to 4,965 units in the month under review.
“With the overall economic scenario improving, the Indian automotive market seems to have stabilized,” said Arvind Saxena, director of Marketing and Sales of Hyundai Motor India.
In 2009, Hyundai sales grew by 14.4 percent to 559,880 units as against 489,343 units of 2008.
Domestic sales jumped by 18.1 percent over 2008, to 289,863 units, while overseas sales accounted for 270,017 units.
During December, in the A2 (compact) segment comprising the Santro, i10, Getz and i20 models, the company sold 44,129 units, while it sold 3,068 units in the A3 segment (Accent and Verna), 20 units in the A5 Segment (Sonata Transform).
