Ranchi, Jan 4 (Inditop.com) Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator C.P. Singh is set to become the next speaker of the Jharkhand assembly as both the ruling and the opposition parties Monday proposed his name for the post.
Six sets of nomination papers were filed in favour of C.P. Singh. His name was proposed by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the BJP and the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) of the ruling alliance.
The opposition Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) and the Congress have also supported Singh.
Singh was first elected legislator in 1995 from Ranchi assembly constituency. He represented Ranchi in 2000, 2005 and again won from the constituency in the recently held polls.
The BJP and the All Jharkhand Student’s Union have formed a coalition government with JMM chief Shibu Soren as the chief minister.
