Kolkata, Jan 6 (Inditop.com) Videocon Industries expects to post a 25 percent growth in sales in October-March period over the first six months of this fiscal on the back of revival in demand for consumer goods, a senior company official said here Wednesday.

“We see a close to 20 percent growth particularly in the consumer durable sector,” Videocon Industries’ Chairman and Managing Director Venugopal Dhoot said.

He was speaking on the sidelines of a Summit on ‘West Bengal – The Investment Destination’ by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Assocham).

The company is setting up a 12 million tonne capacity steel plant and a power project at Jamuria in Burdwan district of West Bengal.

Dhoot said of the total requirement of 1,000 acre, close to 300 acre has been acquired for the steel project.

“Land acquisition is not an issue for us but availability of coal is, and unless coal blocks are allocated to us by the state, there could be delay in the project,” Dhoot said.

The total investment for the project was pegged at Rs.15,000 crore earlier, which later Dhoot said may be to the tune of Rs.21,000 crore.
