Chennai, Jan 7 (Inditop.com) Close to midnight, there was some cheer for India as Somdev Devvarman and Sanam Singh combined well to make it to the semi-finals of the doubles competition in the USD 400,000 ATP Aircel Chennai Open tennis tournament here Thursday.

The Indian duo defeated Jeff Coetzee (South Africa) and Rogier Wassen (The Netherlands) 6-2, 6-3 to make up for the loss of the popular pair of Yuki Bhambri and Carlos Moya (Spain) who went down 5-7, 1-6 to Spaniards Marcel Granollers and Santiago Ventura in the quarter-finals.
