New Delhi, Jan 8 (Inditop.com) Sales of cars grew 40.3 percent in December owing to a low base, improved credit and customer appetite, said the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) Friday.
In December, companies sold 115,268 cars compared to 82,174 units in the same month of 2008, according to data released by SIAM.
Sale of commercial vehicles — buses and trucks — rose 171.6 percent at 48,614 units in the month under review from 17,897 units in the previous corresponding month.
The passenger vehicles segment during April-November 2009 grew 21.21 percent over the same period last year, while the overall commercial vehicles segment registered a 12.44 percent increase in sales.
