New Delhi, Jan 8 (Inditop.com) The Supreme Court Friday shifted the trial of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray in seven cases for making hate speeches against North Indians from Bihar and Jharkhand to a Delhi court.
A bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justice B.S. Chauhan ordered the transfer of cases against the MNS chief on a lawsuit demanding the relief on the grounds that the seven cases have been registered in various places in Bihar and Jharkhand.
Thackeray sought transfer of all the cases to one place, contending that he would be left running from one place to another in the two eastern states to face the trials.
Cases against Thackeray were registered for his alleged inflammatory speeches from January 2008. Of the seven cases, five were registered in Jharkhand and two in Bihar.
The bench transferred all proceedings relating to those cases to a Tis Hazari court after counsel of all those involved agreed to it.
