New Delhi, Jan 9 (Inditop.com) A day after the capital recorded the lowest day temperature in five years and a thick fog cover wreaked havoc with rail and flight schedules, Delhiites Saturday woke up to a relatively clear day with a slight rise in the mercury level.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature recorded Saturday morning was two degrees above the average at nine degrees Celsius.
The maximum is expected to hover around 15 degrees Celsius.
On Friday, Delhi recorded the lowest day temperature in five years – at 12.1 degrees Celsius, it was a good nine degrees below the average for this time of the season.
The general visibility in the city dropped to less than a metre or two early Friday and remained below 50 metres till 10 a.m. The condition improved only after 1 p.m.
“The visibility this morning (Saturday) is much better than yesterday. At 7 a.m., the visibility was 800 metres,” an IMD official told Inditop.
He predicted that the weather will remain similar Sunday with shallow fog in the morning.
An airport official said that unlike the previous day when fog made flight schedules go haywire, Saturday was much better.
“The Runway Visual Range (RVR) this morning was 2,000 metres so all fights were on schedule. Yesterday because of the fog all fights were grounded till 10.30 a.m.,” an airport official told Inditop.
