Bhubaneswar, Jan 9 (Inditop.com) Orissa Saturday witnessed a steep rise in temperature due to cloudy weather conditions and increase in the moisture content in the atmosphere, official said.

“The minimum temperature shot up in most parts of the state due to cloudy weather and increase in the moisture content in the atmosphere,” an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre told Inditop.

The meteorological centre had been issuing cold wave warningS for the past one week after the minimum temperature had dipped to four degree at some places.

According to him, the minimum temperature Saturday shot up to 17.1 degrees Celsius at state capital Bhubaneswar, 16.8 degrees at Cuttack, 11.3 degrees at Jharsuguda, 20 degrees at Puri and 14.0 degrees at Titilagarh.

Temperatures at these places Friday stood at 13.8, 11.8, 8.7, 14.8 and 11.0 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The minimum temperature also rose to 11.8 degrees Celsius at Phulbani town in the district of Kandhamal which recorded 4 degrees Celsius on Jan 3, the lowest of the season in the state. The town had recorded a minimum temperature of 7.4 degrees Celsius Friday.
