Chandigarh, Jan 11 (Inditop.com) The Punjab and Haryana High Court will hear Tuesday the anticipatory bail plea of former Haryana police chief S.P.S. Rathore in connection with the fresh cases registered against him.

On Monday, Justice Sabina adjourned to Tuesday the hearing on the anticipatory bail plea of Rathore following the filing of two new First Information Reports (FIRs) Dec 29.

Rathore’s wife and counsel Abha Rathore had moved the high court seeking anticipatory bail after the Panchkula district court dismissed the plea Friday.

Arguing the case Monday, Abha Rathore claimed police had registered fresh FIRs against Rathore due to media pressure.

“Media has taken everything in their hands and they are running their own trial in this case,” she said.

“Rathore has undergone heart surgery and he is also not keeping good health, therefore we want court to give him anticipatory bail,” she added.

Two new FIRs were registered against Rathore Dec 29, including charges like attempt to murder, criminal intimidation, forging evidence, wrongful confinement, fabricating false evidence and criminal conspiracy. Rathore was also charged Jan 5 with abetting the suicide Ruchika Girhotra, the teenager he had molested.

A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here Dec 21 held Rathore guilty of molesting 15-year-old Ruchika in Panchkula town Aug 12, 1990 and sentenced him to a six-month prison term.

The budding tennis player had committed suicide three years after the incident.
