New Delhi, Jan 12 (Inditop.com) Rubabuddin Sheikh, brother of the slain Sohrabbudin Sheikh, was a happy man Tuesday when the Supreme Court transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) the probe into his brother’s killing. Rubabuddin hoped the mystery surrounding his brother’s death would finally be unfolded.
The apex court Tuesday transferred to the CBI the probe into the alleged staged killing of Ujjain resident Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kausar Bi and their family friend Tulsi Ram Prajapati by a Gujarat police team in November 2005.
“I am happy that the case has been handed over to CBI as I was not satisfied with the investigation being done by the Gujarat police,” Rubabuddin told Inditop over telephone from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
A bench of Justice Tarun Chatterjee and Justice Aftab Alam transferred the probe to the CBI on a lawsuit by Rubabuddin, who expressed distrust of the Gujarat police probe into the allegedly staged killings.
“I am confident that I will get justice as the CBI will start the investigation from scratch. The CBI investigation will reveal the mystery behind the killings of my brother, sister-in-law and their friend,” he said, adding that he was grateful to the apex court for accepting the appeal to transfer the case after it once rejected it in 2007.
“I am happy that the court has accepted our request,” Rubabuddin stressed.
Sohrabuddin was allegedly shot dead by the Gujarat police on the outskirts of Ahmedabad in November 2005. Soon after, Sohrabuddin’s wife Kausar Bi went missing. It was alleged that his wife and other witness Tulsiram Prajapati were also killed by the police to destroy evidence.
