New Delhi, April 22 (Inditop) The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) East Delhi candidate and former cricketer Chetan Chauhan’s car was ransacked and wrecked while he was campaigning Wednesday, police said.

An unidentified person broke the window pane of the white Scorpio car when Chauhan was canvassing the Pandav Nagar area in the afternoon.

The miscreant then took out Chauhan’s briefcase, containing credit cards and election related material, and fled the scene, police said.

A case of theft has been registered at the Pandav Nagar police station.

Chauhan, who is contesting against the Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit, said the incident reflected the capital’s law and order situation.

“Law and order is not in control. The theft shows that the morale of robbers is high in the capital. It is a matter of great concern,” Chauhan told reporters here.

He, however, added he would not blame anyone for the incident.
