New Delhi, Jan 25 (Inditop.com) Business and industry leaders have been honoured in generous measure in the civilian honours announced on the eve of Republic Day. They include Apollo group chairman Prathap Chandra Reddy, who gets the Padman Vibhushan, while DLF’s K.P. Singh, Unilever’s Manvinder Singh Banga and Leela group’s C.P. Krishnan Nair were among those who got Padma Bhushan.

Also getting the Padma Bhushan are banker N. Vaghul and Vardhaman group’s S.P. Oswal.

The recipients of Padma Shri for trade and industry include Nagarjuna Group’s A.V. Satyanarayana Raj, Bahrain-based entrepreneur B.R. Pillai, Moser Baer’s Deepak Puri and Mirza Tanners’ Irshad Mirza.

Others business leaders conferred the Padma Shri were Mohan Meakins’ Kapil Mohan, Nirma group’s Karsanbhai Khodidas Patel, noted chartered accountant T.N. Manoharan and TVS group’s Venu Srinivasan.

The awards will be formally conferred in April by the president. This year, president Pratibha Patil approved 130 awards including 13 in the category of foreigners, comprising six Padma Vibhushans, 43 Padma Bhushans and 81 Padma Shris.
