Lucknow, Jan 27 (Inditop.com) Sunshine Wednesday brought some relief to the residents of Utar Pradesh from damp and misty mornings, but the weatherman said the cold wave will continue to sweep most of the state.

According to the state met department, there will no significant change in temperature at least till Friday.

“There will be no relief from cold winds, primarily responsible for the chilling effect in the weather. Such conditions would prevail in most parts of the state,” state Met Director J.P. Gupta told Inditop.

Though the fog lifted around 9.30 a.m. in Lucknow, Varanasi, Allahabad and Kanpur, cold winds continued to make their presence felt in most of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the met office, a western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from Wednesday onwards and adjoining northern plains from Jan 28.

Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall might occur over the western Himalayan region by Jan 30. Thundershowers might occur over the adjoining plains thereafter.

Lucknow recorded a minimum temperature of 7.4 degrees Celsius Wednesday, Varanasi 6.7, Allahabad 9, Gorakhpur 5.8 and Bahraich 9.3.
