Bhubaneswar, Feb 4 (Inditop.com) Former parliamentarian Khagapati Pradhani, who was elected nine times consecutively to the Lok Sabha from Orissa died in his native village in Nabrangpur district, family sources said Thursday.

The veteran Congress leader was 88. He died at Patraput late Wednesday night after complaining of chest pain.

Pradhani was a Congress member of the 4th to the 12th Lok Sabha from Nabrangpur constituency.

He announced his retirement from politics in 1999. He then devoted his full time to the development of agriculture. Pradhani is survived by his widow, four sons and three daughters.

Orissa governor M.C. Bhandare, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, state Congress chief K.P.Singh Deo and state BJP president Jual Oram have condoled his death. His last rites will be performed Thursday.
