Chandigarh, Feb 6 (Inditop.com) After brief, bright sunshine and rise in mercury in the past few days, weather officials have again predicted some rainfall and a sudden dip in the both day and night temperature in Chandigarh and the surrounding areas in the coming days.

“We are expecting isolated spells of rainfall and thunderstorms in Chandigarh and in various parts of Punjab and Haryana in the next 24 to 48 hours. This is due to the fast approaching western disturbance over this part of the northern plains,” said an official of the meteorological department here Saturday.

“Even today overcast conditions are prevailing in some parts of this region. We also had a drizzle during early morning hours.”

Minimum temperature in this union territory Saturday was recorded at 11.2 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees above the average for this time of the season.

Amritsar city in Punjab recorded a minimum temperature of 12.6 degrees Celsius that was again above the average by four degrees Celsius.

Patiala and Ludhiana cities recorded 9.8 and 11.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

“There is also a possibility of fast blowing cold waves to prevail in the region. It would certainly bring a sharp plunge in both day and night temperature,” the official said.

In Haryana, Ambala, Hisar and Karnal cities recorded a minimum temperature of 10.3, 12 and 9 degrees Celsius respectively.
