Buenos Aires, Feb 11 (Inditop.com/EFE) The drummer of the Argentine rock group Callejeros, Eduardo Vazquez, has been arrested and accused of trying to murder his girlfriend by setting her on fire, police and doctors said.
The woman, Wanda Taddei, is in “very serious” condition with burns over 60 percent of her body at a hospital in the Argentine capital, emergency medicine system chief Aloberto Crescenti said.
Vazquez arrived at the hospital with Taddei to get medical treatment and it was there that police arrested him Wednesday, although at present he is still at the hospital receiving treatment for superficial burns on his hands, Crescenti added.
Apparently, Vazquez doused his girlfriend with alcohol and then set her on fire, the doctor said.
Callejeros is the band that was performing at a discotheque in Buenos Aires in late 2004 when a fire broke out that killed 193 people, among them Vazquez’s mother.
In August 2009, the members of the group were exonerated of any responsibility for the blaze by the court that levied a prison sentence of 20 years on the club’s manager and one of 18 years on the band’s agent.
