Washington, Feb 23 (DPA) Former vice president Dick Cheney, 69, suffered chest pain and was hospitalised Monday, his office said.

“His doctors are evaluating the situation, and he is resting comfortably,” the office said in a statement.

Broadcaster NBC News reported that Cheney is a patient at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, where doctors performed an angiogram.

Cheney, who served as vice president from 2001-09 under president George W Bush, has a long history of heart disease including four heart attacks since the 1970s.
