Asuncion, April 25 (Inditop) Paraguay’s President Fernando Lugo has said he won’t resign from office after a woman claimed that he hid information about their love child to avoid scandal.
“In no way will I allow these circumstances to affect the work of national interest,” Lugo said.
He said he would remain in office till his term ends in August 2013.
Lugo already accepted a two-year-old child as his son in a previous paternity case.
After that case went public, two other women claimed he fathered their children. He has not acknowledged paternity in the more recent cases.
The president was forced to admit having intimate relationship with a woman when he was still the bishop of San Pedro.
In the latest case, the woman claimed that he fathered her 16-year-old boy.
Lugo apologised to the public for the case: “I ask for pardon, but at the same time vow to continue the good work for the country.”
