New Delhi, Feb 25 (Inditop.com) Indian shooters continued their good performance at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range on the eighth day of the Commonwealth Shooting Championship with Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Arozpal Singh bagging gold in the skeet event here Thursday.

Mairaj and Arozpal bagged the team gold with a score of 185 points while England’s Craig Lakey and Rory Warlow (184 points) won the silver. Bangladesh’s Altamas Kabir and Nooruddin Salim bagged the bronze medal with 175 points.

In the women’s 50m Rifle Prone, Scotland’s Jennifer McIntosh and Sheena Sharp set a new commonwealth meet record by scoring 1178 points and clinched the team gold. England’s Smith Michele and Sharon Lee scored an impressive 1177 points to bag the silver. Johanne Brekke and Helen Warnes of Wales took home the Bronze medal with 1174 points.

“I am happy with my performance and I wish to take it forward when I hopefully come back for the Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010. The facilities at the shooting ranges have been good at both Pune and Delhi,” said Jennifer.

She added that Scotland has high expectations from the upcoming Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010. “Security has been a subject of concern for this event. This is something that we have to deal with and I am happy with the arrangements,” she said.

In the women’s Skeet (team event) England’s Nicki Brocklesby and Pinky Le Grelle bagged a fourth gold medal for their country with 84 points. India’s Aarti Rao and Rashmee Rathore bagged the silver close behind with 83 points. Elena Allen and Cerys Evan of Wales settled for bronze with 79 points.
