Kathmandu, April 25 (Inditop) Six people died in new forest fires in Nepal Saturday, just 48 hours after a blaze had killed 13 soldiers.

Five villagers, including three women, of Hastichaur village in Gulmi district in western Nepal, were burnt to death while trying to put out a fire in the Hastichaur community forest.

A sixth person died and three more villagers received serious burn injuries when a fire broke out in the Kavre forest in Dang district, also in western Nepal.

The new deaths come after 13 soldiers of the Nepal Army were engulfed by flames in Ramechhap district in eastern Nepal while trying to save a hospital from a blaze.

From winter, it has been an exceptionally dry period in Nepal and most of its forests are vulnerable to fires and a subsequent environmental disaster.
