Kolkata, April 1 (Inditop.com) Mohun Bagan has requested the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to declare I-League and Federation Cup as ‘Official Tournaments’ of AIFF so that it becomes easier for players and coaches working in government bodies and public sector undertakings to obtain leave.
In a letter to his AIFF counterpart Alberto Colaco, Mohun Bagan general secretary Anjan Mitra said players and coaches of the I-League clubs working with central or state governments or public sector undertakings at times face difficulty in ‘obtaining leave from their employers to participate in tournaments organized by the AIFF.’
He said while players and coaches face no such difficulty in participating in international tournaments and the inter-state Santosh Trophy tournament, the problem arises in events such as the I-League and Federation Cup.
‘We request you to declare I-League and Federation Cup as Official Tournaments of AIFF so that employees of public sector organizations or organizations under the central government and state governments, associated with Clubs, can obtain leave,’ Mitra said in the missive.
