New Delhi, April 5 (Inditop.com) The government Monday said it was not concerned over the rupee gaining against the US dollar and would prefer to wait and watch as the situation is fluid now.
“The situation is fluid now. Let us wait and watch,” Finance secretary Ashok Chawla told reporters here.
The Indian rupee has gained more than 10 percent against the dollar last year. The rupee on March 27 last month touched an 18-month high against the dollar, as the US currency came under selling pressure in both local and international markets.
Chawla also hoped that telecom companies would aggressively bid to buy airwaves for third-generation mobile telephony.
“What the industry has told us is that it will be an aggressive bidding. Let us wait, we can’t prejudge the outcome,” he said.
