Washington, April 13 (Inditop.com) A female bicyclist was struck and killed here by a security vehicle deployed with the Nuclear Security Summit, authorities said.
The accident occurred around 6 p.m. Monday at the intersection of 12th Street and New York Avenue NW, a few blocks away from the summit venue and within the restricted area, Xinhua reported.
Fire officials said the woman was hit by a military truck when it was pulling into the intersection to block it off for a motorcade and failed to see the victim on her bicycle.
The two-day summit is believed to be the largest gathering of world leaders in Washington in more than 60 years. Leaders from 47 nations are discussing ways to secure nuclear materials from terrorists.
