Mumbai, April 15 (Inditop.com) A team of tax officials Thursday evening visited the Indian Premier League office in south Mumbai to collect information relating to tax dues by the cricketing body, according to an official source.

The official said the income tax team had gone to “gather and verify records and data pertaining to tax payments by the IPL and other related issues”.

There is “no raid, nor a search and seizure operation” of any kind by the department, according to the official.

According to informed sources, the move was apparently prompted by the recent controversies plaguing the IPL and its proposed new Kochi team and questions being raised about the sources of its huge funds.
