Kolkata, Sep 19 (Inditop.com) A Port Blair bound Air India flight Saturday took off from here, leaving behind 25 passengers with confirmed tickets as the airbus did not have the capacity to provide required seats to them.
“The incident took place today (Saturday) morning when IC 287 had to take off without 25 passengers. Originally we were supposed to operate a 320 Airbus which has the capacity of 145 passengers.
“But due to some operational reasons we could not use Airbus 320. We used Airbus 319 which has the capacity of 120 passengers. Thus, 25 passengers were stranded,” an Air India official told Inditop.
Among the 25 passengers stranded at Netaji Subhash Chandra International Airport, 15 passengers were later sent to Port Blair by a JetLite flight.
“The remaining 10 passengers will be sent tomorrow (Sunday) morning by our flight. Now they are staying in a city hotel completely at our cost,” the official said.
