Hyderabad, July 31 (IANS) Electricity authorities in Andhra Pradesh Tuesday said the state was safe and secure from grid disturbances in other parts of India.

Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation (AP Transco) said there was no need to panic as the state was quite safe and secure from grid disturbances and fully protected from possible blackouts. It, however, cautioned the engineers to be more vigilant.
The collapse of northern, eastern and north-eastern power grids disrupted power supply to more than 20 states Tuesday.
Hiralal Samaria, chairman and managing director, AP Transco reviewed the grid parameters and cautioned the engineers to be more vigilant with continuous monitoring of all the parameters such as grid frequency, and loading pattern during peak and off-peak hours.
He requested the distribution companies not to overdraw the power more than the allocated quota.
The Southern Grid is isolated and insulated from other inter-connected grids making the southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Puducherry safe from disturbances in other grids.
