Mumbai, Jan 3 (IANS) India’s leading two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto Monday reported a 10 percent rise in its December sales at 276,803 units, which, the company claimed, is the best sales ever for the month.

The sales figure in December 2009 was 252,004 units.

‘The bigger and sportier brands like Pulsar and Discover covered 70 percent of sales,’ the company said in a regulatory filing.

A total of 95,388 units were exported at a rise of four percent, from 91,369 units in December 2009.

While the motorcycle sales grew by 11 percent at 243,675 units (219,920 in 2009), there was a five percent rise in the sales of commercial vehicles — 33,128 units compared to 31,575 units in December 2009.

According to the statement, Bajaj Auto reported 41 percent rise at 2.88 million units during April-December 2010 as against 2.04 units in the corresponding period last year.
