Kolkata, Dec 11 (Inditop.com) Bharti Retail, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bharti Enterprises, is looking to expand operations to either southern or western India once it completes its roll-out in the northern zone, a top official said Friday.

“Now we’ve presence only in northern region. But from January 2011 we’ll expand our footprint to a new region as well. We’re considering options now,” Bharti Enterprises vice-chairman and managing director Rajan Bharti Mittal said.

“If there’s toss, it will be either southern or western zone. But it has not been finalised as of now,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) meeting here.

Bharti Retail owns Easy Day stores and wholesale Cash and Carry outlets, which have been floated in partnership with Walmart.

“We are targeting to have 200 stores by December 2010 in the northern region itself. Most of these will be Easy Day stores,” Mittal said.

“We are trying to open altogether 70 stores by December-end and also targeting to earn a revenue of Rs.1,000 crore by December 2011.” Mittal said.
