Mumbai, Jan 21 (Inditop.com) State-owned power equipment manufacturer Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) Thursday reported a 35.67 percent increase in its net profit for the quarter ended Dec 31 at Rs.1072.5 crore from Rs.790.5 crore it earned in the year-ago period.

The company’s total income during the period under review rose to Rs.7,422.5 crore, a rise of 17.2 percent from Rs.6,328.5 crore in the third quarter of the last fiscal.

The BHEL board Thursday also approved a dividend of Rs.11 per equity share for fiscal 2009-10.

Earnings per share stood at Rs.21.91 per share, up from Rs.16.15 in the previous corresponding quarter.

The company’s scrip ended 4.12 percent lower at Rs.2,297.40 Thursday at the Bombay Stock Exchange.
