Patna, Jan 2 (IANS) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Wednesday sought the intervention of Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia for the allocation of coal linkages for thermal power projects in Bihar.

In his letter to Ahulwalia in this regard, Nitish Kumar said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the National Development Council meeting Dec 27 last week had asked the states to write to the Planning Commission regarding pending coal linkages for thermal power projects.
“The government of Bihar is actively involved in capacity addition of the existing thermal power stations as well as the development of green field projects to meet the increasing power requirement,” he said.
The Barauni Thermal Power Plant extension project also urgently requires coal linkages.
